Great Source of Free eBooks for your Kindle
Tue, Feb 19, 2008
A friend told me about www.manybooks.net today. This site is a terrific source of public domain and creative commons eBooks in a variety of formats, including the Sony Reader and Kindle. Once you have searched for the book of your choice, simply select “kindle” from the pull down format menu and save it to your hard drive.

From there you can email it to your Kindle account, or drag and drop it over using a USB cable. I for one prefer the email route, despite the $.10 fee. Small price to pay for the convenience.

You can also go to the mobile site: http://www.mnybks.net right from the experimental web browser on the Kindle to download them right to the Kindle. Choose the ‘Mobipocket’ format. Another choice is http://www.m.feedbooks.com- the mobile feedbooks site. They offer a Kindle book download ‘guide’- a list of all books available on feedbooks, many of the same as at manybooks (in the public domain. All you need is to register for a free account on your regular PC, sign in once on Kindle, and make sure wireless is on, and you can download any of the available books listed in the Guide, without using the Web browser at all. It’s just as convenient as the Kindle store.
